2005 is past the kool-aid date. Go back further to right before the war began.

Yeah Jimmy, the blog started in the summer of 2005. Before that, I was part of the Dean campaign and was IN the room during the "I have a scream" speech in Des Moines.

Sorry man, you're confusing me with somebody else. I've always been against this war.

Thanks for the assist DM, but let's lay off the insults on both sides folks.

Hmm, do the archives stop at 2005, or did the website begin then? Hey justin, when did you start this blog, I've been a patron so long I have forgotten. Perhaps I have indeed mistaken you for someone else. Maybe Cicero or Callimachus, If so then accept my apologies. If this were a newspaper and I had editorial authority, rectract!

I realize you will probably wish injury on me for penetrating your cocoon and shattering your utopian world, but I’m not like that….

No, but we will think you're a deluded fool. You may not be able to see how Miller's spittle-filled rant was received outside of the rightwing circles you likely travel, but everyone else saw it plain as day. Same with McCain's neoconservative leanings.

What part of first Iraq war post didn't you understand?

This site's only got posts going back to June 2005 so if you can magically pull some pre June 2005 neocon reading material out your backside feel free to share.

McCain's a neo-con and Zell embarrassed himself.

Hmmmmm. News to me.

AXT----just because Jon Stewart (pause now and bow to show proper reverence) cracked some jokes about him doesn't make him a fool. FYI - Jon is a COMEDIAN. His show is NOT A REAL NEWS SHOW. I know, I know. It's hard to believe that something that is produced by an ENTERTAINER is not real. It sure looks like a news desk he sits behind, but even HE admits it is not real.

I hope there is someone standing behind you to catch you as you faint from reading my words....I would not want you to hurt yourself. I realize you will probably wish injury on me for penetrating your cocoon and shattering your utopian world, but I'm not like that....

I take it you don't actually READ Donklephant on a regular basis, do you Jimmy? Let's refresh your memory. Here's a post from Justin's first post on Iraq here, dated from Thursday, June 23rd, 2005:

I was a very vocal opponent of this war, mostly because the argument for the war was never explained to me in any sort of logical way. If Saddam had WMDs, I wanted better proof than artist's renderings of mobile WMD manufacturing labs at the UN. Yeah, I know there was more involved than that, but still, could you honestly believe they showed that stuff?

Now Think Progress has put together an amazing breakdown of what Bush said and when he said it.

Here’s a taste:

Bush: “Our mission is clear in Iraq. Should we have to go in, our mission is very clear: disarmament." [3/6/03]

AFTER THE WAR BEGAN, THE MISSION EXPANDED

Bush: “Our cause is just, the security of the nations we serve and the peace of the world. And our mission is clear, to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein’s support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people." [3/22/03]

Bush: “Our forces have been given a clear mission: to end a regime that threatened its neighbors and the world with weapons of mass destruction and to free a people that had suffered far too long.? [4/14/03]

    THEN THE MISSION WAS COMPLETE

Bush: “On Thursday, I visited the USS Abraham Lincoln, now headed home after the longest carrier deployment in recent history. I delivered good news to the men and women who fought in the cause of freedom: Their mission is complete, and major combat operations in Iraq have ended.." [5/3/03]
I urge you to read the whole thing. Regardless of what you think about the war, we have to start getting honest about how the American people were sold the war in the first place.

So tell me, war apologist or opponent? Or don't you really care?

You were like Andrew Sullivan, citing humanitarian reasons for going in, or that the whole world believed that WMDs were a credible threat at the time. When the initial invasion was over, and Americans were attacked by insurgents using terrorist tactics, you changed your tune, like everyone else.

Should I expect you to now say that WMDs were a deliberate ruse to justify stealing Iraqi oil? or that 9/11 was an inside job? NEOCONS!!! and their damn agenda!

The neo-con war agenda that Democrats and Justin Gardner supported from 2003-2004.

Excuse me???

I did no such thing. I was against the Iraq War, and the neo-con agenda in particular, from the very start.

Maybe you've missed the hundreds of times I've said that on this blog or maybe you missed the fact that I campaigned for Dean or maybe you're just mistaken.

Whatever it is, I'd appreciate a retraction...now.

Lieberman is finished as a Democrat. Or even as a pretend Democrat. The Dems needed him for these two years to maintain a 51-49 majority in the Senate. So they humored him and bought him off with choice committee assignments to keep him caucusing Dem. With a big Dem majority coming into the Senate in 2009, they could care less about Joe. He has betrayed the party is going to lose any standing he had among Senate Dems, lose his committees, and lose any clout he has in the Senate. He knows it. If McCain wins, he'll get a nice Cabinet Post. It is his way out.
