They love his brand name and coolness factor and college-town feel. He's the incarnation of progressivism, including his genetic make-up. The fact that he has done nothing just makes him "fresh" and "new". Any due diligence is met with groans of unfairness by Obama-supporters -- after all, when one buys a pair of new Nikes, they really don't want to see the Indonesian sweet-shop and child-labor that put the thing together -- total buzz-kill.
