How could the repubs NOT be losing the youth vote, is the way I look at it! The only youth they are really in touch with are the religious conservatives, and they are losing them as well. The viable alternative is (possibly) NOT the democratic party. The VIABLE ALTERNATIVE is to WRITE IN a candidate in SUCH numbers it cannot be ignored.
Now, if we can just get that Diebold voting machine(s) problem fixed. That’s another issue, but still, WHY HASN’T THE FEDERAL GOV’T ADDRESSED THIS?! Answer: THEY SUPPORT THE VOTING MACHINE CORRUPTION, THEY ARE THE PROBLEM.

I put the primary blame on Congressional Republicans for abandoning all sense of fiscal discipline and small government and for trying to stay in power for power’s sake. Secondary blame goes to Bush for allowing this to happen on his watch while he was the leader of the party.

I can’t say that I understand the methodology of the GOP. They have Ron Paul, who is more or less the key to whether they will have support from young people or not. And what do they do? Use every dirty trick they can to push Paul and his supporters out of the GOP. This is the party that seems to have nationwide fund raising problems. Even McCain is broke when compared to what Obama has.

Anderson, no offense, but I don’t think you’re in a position to tell other people what parties they should want participating in a democracy. The current crop of politicians have no respect for their constituents, and the fact that you tolerate their disrespect speaks volumes about your lack of standards.

Pd wants a legitimate alternative; the other parties are currently locked out of the political process, and so Americans are forced to accept between two devils who are hellbent on pushing the country off a cliff. And they are devils — selfish, self-righteous, and self-fellating little demons devoid of any redeemable traits.

Don’t like the sound of that? Tough — more people are joining the ranks of the embittered and disillusioned, because your cherished parties are trampling over us like trash.

Pdx632, check around you’ll find there are already several other parties. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any that caters to people who hate/hate and think the parties suck.

No offense, but I don’t think you need a longer menu of parties to choose from. I think you need an attitude overhaul, to make it possible for you to see some of the good in existing parties and the people in them.

In the meantime, please do remain independent. I don’t know of any party anxious to recruit a chronic complainer and negative-attitude case.

Ironically, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and the rest of the neocon Republican menagerie might well be responsible for bringing more new people into the Democratic Party than any person or persons since John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson.

The best thing that could happen to Republicans is that they suffer landslide losses so traumatic that they’re forced to rediscover and reinstate the moderates they’ve spent 25 years demeaning and dismissing. That would be good not only for the GOP, but also for the country and its political climate.

But no, I’m not going to hold my breath.

For me at 38, I have a hate/hate even more relationship with the two parties. I hate the Dems, but the idea of supporting the GOP nearly sends me into convulsions. That’s why I am now an independent. Sure, I don’t participate in the primaries, but who cares. Both of the winners will suck. How much longer will we have to wait for another party that might actually represent the views of the majority.
