McAuliffe Thinks Clinton Will Concede At 2,118

However, people are saying Terry McAuliffe said Clinton will concede if Obama reaches the magic number. He didn’t.

Let’s look at the facts.

First, already this morning the AP reports that Clinton will concede tonight, but the Clinton camp has already called that report false.

Here’s McAuliffe on The Today Show…

Note how careful he is by saying he thinks she’ll call Obama the nominee…so if you know anything about Terry McAuliffe, you know how specifically he states things. If she was absolutely, 100% going to concede when Obama gets 2,118, McAuliffe would have said that outright. These are all important distinctions to keep in mind when we’re sifting through the spin, especially when it comes to McAuliffe…one of the spiniest politicos I’ve seen in my lifetime.

He also keeps claiming that she’s stronger against McCain. Now, folks, there are certain things you don’t do in a campaign when you’re about to concede, and one of them is stating that your candidate is stronger than the person is going to win.

I’m not holding out much hope that she’ll do anything but congratulate Obama tonight on his victory in Montana, but continue to claim the popular vote lead and that she’s a stronger candidate. And then, when Obama hits 2,118…maybe she’ll concede…maybe.

More as it develops…
