The count also included five delegates Obama was guaranteed as long as he gained 15 percent of the vote in South Dakota and Montana later in the day. It takes 2,118 delegates to clinch the nomination. "NBC News has been maintaining its own tally of delegates, which stood at Obama being 27.5 delegates short of the 2,118 needed. Would it really kill anybody to wait another 48 hours or so, to let the voters in South Dakota and Montana cast their votes? If these two states have their elections tomorrow, and the votes lean heavily towards Clinton, the Associated Press will have some serious, serious credibility issues to deal with. This is wrong...
