PPP: Obama, McCain Virtually Tied In Virginia

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Independents, McCain, Polls, Republicans, Virginia

Public Policy Polling finds more signs that Virginia is in play this cycle. This is after Bush took it by nearly 7 points in 2004.

Obama - 47%
McCain - 45%

Some key findings:

  • Obama leads by 10 points among women.
  • McCain leads by 9 points among men.
  • Obama leads by 35 points among African Americans, but PPP thinks that margin will significantly widen closer to the election.
  • McCain leads by 9 among Caucasians, which is closer than expected.

    Hi there!
First let me congratulate you on your blog-title and subheading. Silly-funny and profound at the same time.

Secondly, I think the demographic-breakdowns are going to reach new heights during this election. They’ll probably reach a point where they stop making sense. It is interesting though as the two candidates clearly bring completely different things to the table.

And thirdly, some blatant self-advertising for my short animation about the election.

    Cheers!

The Party ID’s in this poll make it highly suspect. Check out my analysis:
