You've all simply got to be kidding. Huckabee is a pathetic joke and the assassinate Obama crack was the capper. He's toast. He went from being merely toxic to radioactive. We cannot get rid of this guy fast enough.

There's no way he ever was or is now on McCain's veep list, long or short. It doesn't matter so much who McCain choses, as long as it isn't Huck, who would lose the entire west for McCain, and give the MSM an absolute field day of fun with all the skeletons clanking around in Huck's closet. Duh.

I think McCain should choose Sara Palin of Alaska. Not that Huckabee is bad, but Palin would also get the approval of Evangelicals and likely a large chunk of subarbanite women voters as well, a key demographic. Many of these suburban soccer mom's are Hillary supporters, who are still peeving about the primary results. Palin is young, energetic, a mother of 5, she hunts, (NRA member) fishes and is staunchly Pro-Life. She is living proof that you can be a sucessful feminist and not be in the Hillary/NARAL/ DNC crowd.

OTOH, I doubt that Huckabee would do wonders for McCain's approval among independents and party identification as Republican is dropping.

I agree. This is a perfect match. It fills in all the questionable holes.

Huckabee disappointed me greatly when he self-righteously tried to trump the "Christian" card in the election, directly trying to convince voters to vote against Mormonism rather than against Mitt Romney (a bigoted and hypocritical strategy).

Of course, Huckabee tried to appear innocent the whole time he was bashing Romney's religion (rather than Romney himself as he should have done), asking, for example, the seemingly innocent question, "don't Mormons believe that Satan and Jesus are brothers?" while simultaneously being fully aware of Mormon beliefs, having been a speaker himself at the recent Soutern Baptist Convention in SLC, Utah (his speech was carefully taken off the internet prior to the election).

Likewise, when Huckabee "unknowingly" had that white cross mysteriously appear behind him in that commercial over Christmas, attempting to appear angelic or even "chosen" to evangelical Iowa- that was a big turn-off- not only to evangelicals, but to many wealthy Republican Mormons, who saw this, as they had to, as a direct attack against their faith- not against Romney.

Then there was that commercial fiasco when Huckabee said he wasn't going to release his mean-spirited commercial and then he did- to the press, knowing it would be seen more this way than by paying TV stations to run it. Are we to believe he didn't realize this? Are his deceptive techniques acceptable for a potential VP of the United States, let alone a Preacher? I don't think so; I think the "H" in Huckabee stands for HYPOCRIT.

I originally didn't want Romney for President or even VP, but after seeing the true character of Hucabee and some others in this race, it appears to me that Romney is not only the most experienced and capable VP option for McCain, but one of the last remaining politicians with some degree of integrity.

Huckabee has 10 1/2 years of the chief executive experience McCain is lacking. Under Huckabee's leadership, Arkansas was able to accomplish many major improvements fiscally responsibly with a huge Democrat majority. Huckabee will be able to help McCain with moderate-conservative lower-middle income earners, blacks, youth, homeschoolers, FairTax supporters, etc. as well as those values voters. McCain will get more votes per buck with Huck because of his organized army of grassroots supporters. [hucksarmy.com] McCain/Huckabee '08 sounds great!

It's about time! Mike is the only one that can bring excitement to the Republican ticket. Everyone was suggesting Romney, but only the Washington/Republican Elite. We need a guy that connects with ordinary citizens and not a wooden rich guy. Mike can connect with Blue colar Democrats and farmer Republicans. McCain/Huckabee '08. If Romney is chosen by Mac it means that money trumps a connection with voters. Look how Romney's millions helped out in Iowa and other states (Not much) Mike raised 15 million and got 285 electoral votes. Romney raised 41 million (just of his own money) and got 234 votes.

Right on "Linda"!!! Most certainly the Republicans will have a greater chance of winning in November with Huckabee on board! He draws the millions of us who supported him in the primaries; the Catholics; the African-Americans and the Evangelicals who are calling for a "change" alright! A change to what America should be once again... which is pro-life; pro-family and pro-patriotism! Get back to those "basics" and we become a stronger nation, without a doubt!! Huckabee is charismatic; an energizer; a uniter among all peoples and with him you've got the key to winning in November! Without him Republicans are going to lose! With him, we will contribute the $$ needed to fight against the party that will put us in the poor house! Believe in us McCain! Choose Huckabee and we'll believe in you!! McCain/Huckabee '08!!!

They speak for most all the Republicans who want Mike Huckabee on the ticket with Senator McCain. This ticket has the BEST chance of winning. Huckabee can excite the base, rally the troops, and get out the vote!!! He and Senator McCain share the same ideology, they can be a strong and effective team in Washington and bring this country back to it's greatness. USA survey election polls show Huckabee helps McCain most!! He has name recognition and likeability!! Huckabee and McCain got 97.7 positive rating by body language experts saying this is extremely rare! It is obvious they are comfortable around each other, like and respect each other. Most importantly, this team can bring FUN back to the party, excitement to the ticket and postive change that we need in Washington because they are mavericks, not your ordinary brand of Republicans....
McCain/Huckabee'08.....priceless!!!!!!

What a corner to be in. Mike Huckabee, in my opinion, destroyed his career with the NRA debaucle. I can't imagine a recovery from his failed attempt at stand-up.
Romney, the plastic Ken doll, has a chance if McCains plastic Barbie bride wants a friend.
McCain needs to surprise us all with a fresh face--an individual with character and integrity as dominant traits.
