Aww nuts Jesse!

What was this man thinking?
Jesse Jackson has been on literally thousands of television programs and he’s well aware that mics are always on. And yet…he said this:
“See, Barack been, um…talking down to black people on this faith based…I wanna cut his nuts off. Barack, he’s talking down to black people.”
But to be fair to the Rev, this is part of his statement today…
“For any harm or hurt that this hot mic private conversation may have caused, I apologize. My support for Senator Obama’s campaign is wide, deep and unequivocal. I cherish this redemptive and historical moment.”
I guess my question is…what did Jackson mean by wanting to cuts his nuts off? Obviously I think we’re talking metaphorically here, but what exactly did he plan on doing? I think it’s obvious he wasn’t going to come out in the public forum and start bad mouthing Barack, so was he going to do it behind the scenes? Well, I guess he already was, and this is the proof.
And let’s be clear, Obama “talking down to black people” came in the form of him urging African American men to take care of their responsibilities and not leave so many children in single parent homes. This is a very real issue and Obama’s opinion is a widely held belief in this community. Of course, most don’t have the audience that the Illinois senator does, but the opinion is there nonetheless.
Oddly enough, everybody I’ve talked to today thinks this helps Obama…Dems and Repubs alike. And I guess that ultimately says something about how much people respect Jesse Jackson…which isn’t much.
Moving on…
UPDATE:
Okay, now I’ve seen the video and Jesse certainly seems to give a nice little “nut cutting” motion off camera with his right hand when he says the now infamous phrase…
Aww nuts Jesse!
By the way, since when do we bleep the word “nuts”?

I had wondered what the over/under was on when Obama would start being bashed by his putative supporters as a sellout or an “Uncle Tom”. I never expected it to start until after he was already in the White House, though.

Okay, bad Jesse! I like Jesse more now than I did before the nuts comments. Give Jesse a break – he’s had skin in the game for a long time and suddenly he’s eclipsed by Obama. He’s having to hump for the little prince. And then the little prince sells out the playas for some white evangelical vote. Nice. I’d be pissed if I were Jesse too.

Persecution of Christians
Christians are persecuted by Muslims in many parts of the world, including in the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority. Though Christians made up 75% of the Bethlehem population 60 years ago, their numbers have declined to around 10% today. Christian residents flee Bethlehem by the hundreds every year due to intimidation, economic boycotts and violent acts committed against them by Muslim residents. Churches are frequent targets of attacks in many parts of the Middle East and Africa. In some countries, such as Saudi Arabia, churches are outlawed and Christian worship is banned. Up to 250 million Christians worldwide will face persecution and repression in 2007, simply for following Jesus Christ, according to the latest roundup of the world’s persecution hotspots by Release International.

This is another example of the strained generational relationship between Sen. Barack Obama and the established black political power base. He has become a victim of generation who watched crack, poor education and rapid unemployment cripple the black community and blamed it all on white people and rap music. Now Obama a member of that generatin has siezed the reigns of power in the Democratic party and in the black community and reshaping both institutions. He may be a an opportunistic politician that vacillates on Iran, Iraq or the death penalty, but one thing he is not is an identity politician. That narrative belongs to Jesse Jackson and Al sharpton and it is becoming old news. The faster a new narrative is crafted, the quicker that style of politics dies and with it a generation of black politicians that failed their community.

Jesse Jackson is an old has been crackpot. He has fancied himself a prophet of sorts ever since he was associated with Martin Luther King Jr. This guy is disparate to stay in the lime light. It’s pathetic when people do good things so feed their ego rather than just do good for good’s sake.
