it’s like saying the girl deserves to get raped if she drinks that much. i wouldn’t even say it’s just white men, but as men in general, we forget about the admiration(which we care so much about) that can be garnered from being tactful/polite. saying something like that as the president would be unforgivable. as the supposed bringers of freedom/civilization(we currently look like blithering idiots), he’d make us look bad.

The first two comments have hit the nail on the head.

I mean, what could be LESS offensive than a joke whose central theme is the hope that people will die of cancer so we don’t have to kill them with our bombs? That way, when we glibly dismiss their suffering, we won’t have to be reminded how much of it was caused by American armaments.

What a great and thoughtful leader McCain would be. Pure diplomat. Pure class.

Either way, this joke and previous jokes and comments are key to McCain’s way of thinking about the subject. It’s no joke that the Iranian *people* are our friends, if not the government in Tehran. To wage a war on the Iranian govt./nuclear facilities alone is just not possible. If we “go to war” against Iran, many innocents will be killed and another nation in the Middle East will rise against us. A nation whose people have the potential to be great friends with America. Give overt diplomacy, and covert operations to unseat the power in Tehran, a chance to work.

Yeah me too. I’m all for a President that’s a politically correct, self-righteous, relentless scold. That way he can constantly lecture us all, and we can be dead serious ALL THE TIME, always ready to get our panties atwist at the least imagined slight. What a delight that will be.

I can’t imagine anything worse than a President with a sense of humor.

Yeah, I’d rather have every word be politically calculated, mauled over, sent through a language committee, focus-grouped, sanitized, screened and then robotically uttered with very little intonation.

I guess, Barrack could take the same lessons except not against Iranians, but Pennsylvanians. Anyway, it must be a slow day if that is getting tossed up as offensive or dangerous.
