What Alternative Energy Sources Do People Prefer?

I’ll have more on this later, but I wanted to make sure I got this out before I forgot about it.
I think the table is telling, especially consider how much McCain has been pushing nuclear energy. And honestly, I’ve warmed to nuclear in recent months once I learned more about it, but it’s still going to be HUGELY expensive and it’ll take decades for new plants to come online.
The big opportunity here is the tax credit idea, and I don’t think either candidate has proposed that energy conservation could be incented. I’ve always liked that idea too, but the trick becomes what types of conservation do you incent? Home energy use? Transportation? Business?
Another interesting finding from the poll…Americans may actually be ready to be told that they’re consuming too much and they need to curb their energy appetites…

This has always been characterized as a bit of a “3rd rail” in politics, but maybe the time has finally arrived to talk about how each one of us can claim some personal responsibility in this struggle for energy independence?
More as it develops…

I think large-scale solar would be a great thing to install out in the deserts in the Southwest. We have so much open land out there, so finding a place wouldn’t be a problem. The real problem now is making the generation and transmission cost-effective.
