Obama Reveals Another Veep Clue

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Veep

He has decided who the “person” will be, so who do you think fits the following profile?

Obama said he wanted somebody who is “prepared to be president” and who will be “a partner with me in strengthening this economy for the middle class and working families.”

He said he was looking for not just a partner but a sparring partner. “I want somebody who’s independent, somebody who can push against my preconceived notions and challenge me so we have got a robust debate in the White House.”

Biden doesn’t seem to fit that mold, and neither does Bayh. Still, this could all be a head fake, and Obama would probably say this about ANY Veep candidate.

Thoughts?

It sounds like you’re implying a pick of Hillary Clinton.

I am very middle of the road when it comes to politics. I actually like both Obama and McCain. Although I’m honestly more drawn to Obama.

In April and May, when this was still something of a 3 person race, the one of the 3 that I definitely didn’t like was Mrs. Clinton (although I honest couldn’t pinpoint why).

I guess I’ve just outted myself as a bit biased. That being said, I think it would be a bad decision by the Obama campaign to pick Clinton …

Many of the people who voted for Clinton in the primaries, especially in places like WV were actually voting against Obama … putting her on the ticket is not going to change their minds.

I know there’s been a lot of talk about the “18 million” votes that Clinton got, but when talking about this supposed Dream Ticket people just seem to skip right over the fact that 18 million + voted against her.

I really hope the CW is right, and he chooses Biden.

    Just my opinion,
    Todd

I’m thinking he might pick Hill – just because it’s so counterintuitive. Anyone else think so?

That profile fits Biden more than Hillary.

I absolutely, hands down, think it’s Hillary. Todd, yes 18 milliion voted against her in favor of the actual candidate, Obama. Do you think Obama supporters are going to abandom him because he picks Hillary. Never. Also, people speculate that he’ll avoid Hillary because it’ll make him look “weak” – I say hogwash – it’ll make him look stronger – like he can beat the Clintons, and then manage them to do his bidding. Also, people say that she poses a danger of galvanizing the Republican base against the ticket. They’re already againt the ticket no matter who the running mate is. Foolishness. Obama needs a runningmate choice that lights up the airwaves. Who else can do that but Hillary? Nobody. When he announces Hillary it’ll be a worldwide media frenzy like we’ve never seen before in our lifetimes. The base will be happy, women will be happy, middle American blue collars will be happy, elite left wingers will be smuggly happy, independents will be tantalized, the global media will be abuzz, and the right wing will be in a panic. Obama/Clinton in 08!!!!

    You just wait.

Apparently Hillary was not even in consideration. She wasn’t even vetted.
