Obama’s New Ad Gets In On The “Fun”

McCain makes fun of Obama and compares him to God, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

Obama answers by pointing out how McCain doesn’t really know very much about economics.

I agree with Doug…

Although it’s done with tongue in cheek and in a deliberately cute manner, this is actually a pretty effective ad.

It uses McCain’s own words against him, and it ties him to an incredibly unpopular President. The tagline at the end is reminiscent of Ronald Reagan’s famous line in 1980 — “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?”

As many know, Obama has pointed out that he sees a lot of parallels between 1980 and 2008, so if that’s the aim of this ad, along with the “McSame” meme, I think he nails it.

But will voters care? Or will they think he’s going negative unnecessarily?

Make no mistake: The world wants Obama and the world needs Obama. Africa has a long and rich history of leadership that is wise, just and truthful. A former student of mine took the above photo during a recent trip to Nigeria. Africa already recognizes Obama as a world leader as does most of the non-white world.

The people of Zimbabwe may beg to differ.

Edit: In reference to a sweeping statement about the leadership abilities of Africans, not Obama (who is an American, btw).
