Pro-Hill Dem & Now McCain Surrogate Gets McCain’s Abortion Stance Really Wrong

I wrote about Hillary supporter Debra Bartoshevich back in June when she decided to break from her party and support McCain instead.

So what made her so special? Well, she was as an elected delegate to the Democratic National Convention at the time. Understandably, she was quickly booted.

Now she has popped up in a new ad as the voice of all of those pro-Hillary Dems who now, inexplicably, feel that actively supporting John McCain is the next best thing to supporting Hillary. You know, because they line up on so many issues…

Also, and even more inexplicably, she has come to the conclusion that McCain is possibly pro-choice?

Midway through the event, Bartoschevich was asked if she was concerned about McCain’s pro-life voting record. At a podium paid for by the Republican National Committee, with McCain aide Carly Fiorina standing nearby, Bartoschevich said this:

Going back to 1999, John McCain did an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle saying that overturning Roe v. Wade would not make any sense, because then women would have to have illegal abortions.

I don’t know, maybe Ms. Bartoshevich hasn’t been paying attention to who she’s supporting, but as recently as the Saddleback conference a few Saturdays ago, McCain reiterated his pro-life, Roe v. Wade overturning views…

“I have a 25-year pro-life record in the Congress, in the Senate. And as President of the United States, I will be a pro-life president and this presidency will have pro-life policies. That’s my commitment, that’s my commitment to you.”

And this from his website…

John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench.

Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat.

Listen, say what you want about John McCain being a maverick on issues like the environment, but one issue where he falls directly in line with his party is Roe v. Wade.

Pro-Hillary Dems who care about reproductive rights should keep this in mind. It’s certainly not the only issue, but 2 or 3 judges will probably be retiring in the next couple terms and that could have an impact not just on Roe v. Wade.

Food for thought…
