Somebody’s got to shuttle Saakashvili’s payoff to him. Georgia goaded Russia into flexing its muscle, and the situation worked out just like Rove might have planned it. Oh yeah, he and Condi were both over there before this whole thing started. Guess you get what you pay for….

The McCain campagin staff has not shown good judgement to date (the stupid “celebrity ads” but Cindy McCain going to Georgia is the campaigns way of trying out the “Princess Diana” and the anti-mine campaing. If McCain wants to focus on this problem, he should put his own butt on the plane, instead of risking his wife’s life for publicity (which will backfire)

When America elects a women, we will stop fussing over first ladies. The focus on them is to make up for the lack of real female leaders.

It looks like “Ossetia’s aggression” is a sham set up by Putin, just like Medvedev as President is a sham, and democracy in Russia is a sham. It looks like all of it is Putin’s brinksmanship to position Russia as a global power. Stupidly, we seem to be playing right into his hand at every turn. Why oh why did we (or the Georgian’s) take the bait?

Ya, its kind of silly that Cindy is going to Russia, but I just read this report from the reliable Michael Totten about the truth behind the Georgian conflict, and if what he reports is indeed true, then Georgia needs all the support and solidarity it can get. Michelle should get on a plane too. Justin, you keep saying Georgia started the war, I advise to read this article, perhaps post a thread on it here. I think I can speak for a lot of readers here when I say nobody even heard of "Ossetia" 3 weeks ago, so we should all read up on the conflict as much as we can before we pass judgment. Did you know that Russia sent heavy armor into Georgia apparently to assist Ossetian militia men who were shelling Georgian peace keepers with illegal weapons that violated a 1994 peace agreement, before Gerogia launched its assault on August 7th? There were reports of Russian jet fighters bombing Georgian villages in South Ossetia on August 6th!.

I was surprised to see this news on the MSNBC ticker as I was watching the convention. Then, while Michelle Obama was speaking it all made sense. Cindy needs something to talk about for her speech at next week’s convention. What better spot to find it than a war zone before the RNC.

I’m offended that any American would be proactive on Georgia’s behalf. John McCain doesn’t speak for ME, when he kisses Georgian butt!! Georgia slammed the little guy, Russia stood up for the little guy.

It is my opinion that Russia is now what the USA used to be. How sad.

No. But the Jews in America, who boast openly about their media hegemony, hate Russia with a blood passion and that’s what it’s really all about: Antagonizing Russia. McCain is looking to solidify his Jewish base in America by tweaking Russia on their behalf. Further, most Jews in America aren’t even Semites; they are Khazars from the Caucasus – where Georgia is.

Okay, now that’s funny.

@Doug – Now, come on. Do you really want these women to be ciphers? I certainly don’t. Strong leaders usually have strong spouses behind them who are trusted advisors. Perhaps in the future we’ll see a First Gentleman, and I’d expect him to be there right with the candidate too. I don’t mind that type of situation at all.

But what I do mind is when those spouses make transparent attempts to insert themselves into situations where they don’t belong. Cindy is doing it with this situation. And yes, Michelle has made some gaffes, but to treat a foreign policy crisis like it’s a photo op isn’t good form.
