Jimmy is a far better ex-President, than he was President. I love him, but side-lining him was the right move.

"There were a few other curious decisions as well. Jimmy Carter made only a brief appearance after a video tribute was shown in the convention hall. It was a surprisingly small part for an former president to play..."

Yeah - that also struck me as quite odd. I mean - they could not find time on the dais for a Nobel peace prize winning ex-president? Really? When there are only two Dem ex-presidents around?

I think you hit the nail on the head though - the comparison of Obama to Carter and the similarity of campaign themes is just too easy. It is a comparison that Obama would like to avoid.
