I am a Dutchman, living in Holland, but like millions of other people who do not live in the U.S.A. I follow the presidential elections with great interest. People in Europe are always surprised by the important part that religion plays in American politics. And by the fact that American politicians refer to God and the Bible so frequently. In Europe politics and religion are two things that are kept completely seperate. I think that few Germans have any idea to what church their president belongs and think it possible that she does not belong to any church at all.

When I first saw this thing it looked to me like the White House. Perhaps if anything, it makes him look a little presumptuous, sort of like that presidential seal emblem he tried to pass for his campaign insignia. Even some Democrats consider this a faux-pas. This photoshop is kind of funny too.

Look at the title of the post. I’m not debating that convention sets aren’t pretentious. Just that it’s RIDICULOUS to keep pushing this messiah meme because of an observation that is clearly ignorant of classic American political architecture. You know, like the White House, et al.

So since columns are pretty much a staple of our collective American political tradition, perhaps we can get beyond the whole idea of “Roman Temple?” Or do you just enjoy pushing the same meme as McCain’s camp?

Don’t you love it when Republicans lie? Again. And again…

Jimmy can’t even comprehend what the quote that he linked to means but he does it anyway. Then he calls people infinitely more talented than himself names and lies about what the music video says. And he can’t even comprehend how spot on Justin’s post was in pointing out how common those types of columns are in public buildings throughout the country.

You have to admit, after Obama himself proclaimed that he controls the wind and the waves, and celebrity douchebags like George Kastanza and Whoopie Goldberg pray to Obama in music videos, it doesn't help Barack shed his image as a messeanic cult of personality by preaching his acceptance speech while standing in front of an ancient greek temple.
