Say what you wish about the Democrats, but they do certainly learn from past mistakes such as McGovern’s promise to crawl on his hands and knees to Hanoi to achieve a peace at any price. Now they use subterfuge and nuanced comments to lull Americans into stupefaction.

On Iraq: “Here is the truth: fighting a war without end will not force the Iraqis to take responsibility for their own future. And fighting in a war without end will not make the American people safer.” (He devotes all of 7 lines to the war in Iraq, a war which definitely HAS an end thanks to Bush’s “surge” which Obama opposed.)

On Negotiating: “Obama is willing to meet with the leaders of all nations, friend and foe. He will do the careful preparation necessary, but will signal that America is ready to come to the table.” (This is the same Obama who said that he didn’t need any “preparations” and that there would be no preconditions for him to negotiate with America’s enemies.)

On Israel: “Obama …will make a sustained push…
