If everyone on here actually believes that Gov Sarah Palin banned one single book from the Wasilla Library, then they are severely mistaken. She has a right as mayor to inquire into ANY policy that her town may have, no matter how small. She was simply exercising her right under the 1st Amendment (which many Democrats advocate tirelessly, and rightly for) to ask a question. Actually, she was bettering herself and her community by asking this question. She was DOING HER JOB. Maybe some others might want to try that sometime....

FactCheck.org already has a more than sufficient post on a lot of the recent rumors including the alleged book banning.

Long story short: it's false, making it (like lipstickgate) and worthless distraction.

YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe,

You have got to be kidding me....worst American ever?

Don't embarass yourself with your seething hatred of this woman, she's not worth it.

Listen pal, she didn't ask for a book to be banned, no books were banned. She was a member of a church that had concerns about books, and while she was Mayor, all she did was ask what the process was. The fact the library actually has a process is all you need to know that simply asking a question is not out of bounds. Now, if she had actually asked for a book to be banned, I'd be right there in front of you leading the charge for her to be hanged, but she didn't.

My point, if you read what I wrote, is that people are once again focusing on the wrong thing. This woman is a ruthless politican who seeks to remove anyone she that looks at her funny--it's a clear established pattern. She only wants "her people" around her and brooks no opposition.

This is Bush-Cheney all over again. The right will defender her right to can anyone who serves at the "will of whatever position Palin is sitting in at the moment" and while legally defensible, it has proven to be very, very dangerous.

Without dissent, and with only total agreement, you end up with group think, and group think leads to bad decisions.

Even if you are a Bush fan (I am not), it is undeniable that many of the Bush administration decisions have been obscenely wrong.

In addition to the fact that the "decider" decides in the end, the process feeding the decider is hopelessly flawed when all anyone tells him is what he wants to hear.

In McCain, you have a man who makes bad decisions but is too stubbern to admit and marches forward--I didn't say that about him, HE said that about himself.

In Palin, you have a woman who insists on loyalty over debate, and who is so secure in her ignorence about a host of topics that with no one to say, "Hey, wait a minute..." any decisions coming out of her are bound to be flawed.

A McCain-Palin ticket is a disaster waiting to happen.

That is the issue, pal, not some bogus book ban red herring. If you cannot see that, you sir, are stupid, gullible, and lack the insight to be allowed to vote. If so, you're no different than the morons on the right getting insane at the lipstick on a pig brouhaha. You're missing the point and you're giving the left a bad name.

Were any books ever banned ?

Was anything every removed from the library ?

From what I've read, the answer to both questions is no.

This strikes me as much ado about nothing.

It's a minor issue?!

Banning books is a minor issue?!

Are you really that stupid or is it simply gullibility?

Bad enough that politically motivated firings are taking place over a MAYOR'S RACE FOR A VILLAGE OF 5000 PEOPLE, but banning books, ever, is so much worse.

The fact that you don't see the relevancy of this issue makes me mad at your teachers. The restriction of the free flow of knowledge based on what one GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE'S preferences are is an abomination against the core of our first amendment rights.

You are the worst American, EVAR!

Wow, is that bad reporting. In all liklihood, the removal of books was a very minor issue.

The libarian and the police chief of the town were both fired (where's that ABC news....every heard of Google?) because they supported Palin's opponent for mayor.
