This morning, http://www.fivethirtyeight.com has the race at dead even. 538 is better than Gallup, as it's a poll of polls with more accurate weights for pollster-induced error. Gallup is very high on induced error.

I wouldn't say don't worry if you are an Obama supporter. But it's a good thing Palin is lying about her record. Check out this vid for an analysis on the results of her earmark requests:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xbn_AXlaeY

On how she used the money from the Bridge to Nowhere,"according to a “summary of requests for federal appropriations” posted to her budget office’s website earlier this year, Palin requested millions of federal dollars for everything from improving recreational halibut fishing to studying the mating habits of crabs and the DNA of harbor seals". From http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13353.html

She botched a deal on a sports complex for Wasilla, AK, costing the city an extra $1.3 million. That's a lot, when you consider it could have easily cost just $126,000. Not good for her image as a smart money manager. From http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122065537792905483.html, also http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/background/story/168047.html

She also increase sales taxes on the city's residents. Not good for Republicans to raise taxes.

Just because these examples exist, doesn't mean a thing. Obama supporters need to send links and tell others about how Palin is no where near ready to be VP. Don't count on the media to publicize it, because they either won't or will botch it.

She is a younger hotter version of the same old pols who will look you in the eye while lying to you.

The big question now, at least for the Obama campaign, is how long Sarah Palin's novelty will last. Keep in mind that Obama himself used to be the novelty candidate, but for a multitude of reasons that novelty wore thin over the summer and he slowly lost his once-commanding lead over McCain - and that was before Palin had ever entered the picture.

If Obama's novelty can wear off, so can Palin's. In fact if this were still the early summer, I would have said it was just a matter of time before it did wear off. But as it is, that matter of time may end up being too long to do Obama any good.

My in-depth analysis of this election also leads me to believe that if he loses his lead, McCain might risk losing the election altogether.

If he can keep that lead until election is asking for a lot bubbles, he'll be lucky if he can keep it for a week

I imagine that if he can keep that lead, McCain will likely do very well on election day.
