Both candidates gain 1 from yesterday, but the 3 points spread is exactly the same. This is significant for McCain because it represents the first time that he’s hit the 50% mark.
Here’s how the candidates are viewed in general, by their own party and by independents…
McCain is viewed favorably by 57% of the nation’s voters while Obama earns positive reviews from 53%. McCain is supported by 90% of Republicans and has a six-point edge among unaffiliated voters. Eighty-two percent (82%) of Democrats say they’ll vote for Obama.
