Lena, you're exactly right. Even the fact that he took time to make a very public statement about his campaign suspension (even aside from the Couric interview) proves he's not transcending politics in favor of the economy.

I can't imagine *any* reason why McCain wouldn't be more well-versed on this issue. It's the number one concern of voters.

It's a bit tragic that McCain's idea of "stop campaigning to solve the economic crisis" actually means to spend hours running media interference with an appearance on Couric's show instead of getting informed on the issue at hand.

Apparently, McCain's about a big a fan of reading as George W. Bush. No wonder he's so afraid of a debate with heavy economic focus...jeez.

I heard a fairly conservative-sounding economist describe it as "2-1/2 pages" earlier in the week. Apparently, $700,000,000,000 didn't even merit all of that 3rd page.

I'm trying to be objective when I post, but this is pathetic and inexcusable. I don't understand how anybody can even be on the fence after these past few weeks.

Wouldn't it be SOP for a senator running for President to instead be briefed on the subject, and then to be sure to read the proposal prior to attending the Senate for debate and voting?

I wish I were surprised. It's okay, though, McCain was too busy dissing Letterman in favor of Couric to read the proposal.
