McCain Wishes He Would Have Picked Mitt Romney

Listen to him explain the bailout terms in a very easy, straightforward manner.

Does that sound like a bad deal to you?

Also, concerning Palin, I bet Romney wants “Sarah Palin to be Sarah Palin.” Because if she does that, McCain will lose handily and it’ll set up Romney perfectly for a 2012 run when the economy will STILL be on the front burner as the topic du jour.

Yep, that was a prediction.

Nonsense. If Romney had been the VP pick, McCain would be 15 points down in the polls and with considerably fewer contributions. Although - Romney could have made up for the contribution shortfall out of his pocket.

Go back and look at this completely incoherent and wildly stupid convention speech. McCain’s campaign would have been buried right there. It would have been the last nail in the coffin of the GOP.

  2. Jeff Rosenberg Says:

For 2012, I don’t think Romney will be anywhere to be found. It’ll be Huckabee, perhaps with competition from Palin, depending on whether she can salvage some dignity in 2008.

I’m not a Romney fan but at least the guy strikes me as intellectual and bright.

  4. mw Says:

    @bubbles
This interview is good. But you need to look at this speech at the convention. If he gave that speech as the VP nominee, McCain’s chances would have ended right there.

  5. Mike Says:

I was a Romney supporter, but I agree the speech at the convention was bad. But I’m sure it would have been better had he had senior McCain speech-writers working on it day and night like they did for Palin.

As a conservative leaning independent, I was for the Palin pick in the beginning. But I now agree with a growing number that it was a horrible pick. Clearly, she is not ready. Romney would have been very useful right now.

  6. Mike Says:

    Jeff,

Huckabee vs. Palin 2012? If that happens, heaven help us.

  7. Aaron Says:

Huckabee is a political genius but an intellectual idiot. Shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

  8. Mark Says:

Please evangelicals get over Huckabee he is an idiot. During the primaries only 1/3 conservatives liked him. In an election he would only get 9 states. He needs to get off Fox News and go away. I see him and I think anybody can come in off of the farm and run for president. He is worse then Obama.
