Gallup: Obama Up By 7

McCain loses one and hits one of the lowest numbers of his campaign. Meanwhile, Obama adds one and flirts with the 50% threshold yet again.

Of note, both Gallup and Rasmussen have Obama leading by 7 points now.

Gallup also shows that the outlook for cutting this lead down doesn’t look good for McCain:

Most of the interviewing in today’s three-day rolling average was conducted before Thursday night’s vice presidential debate between Sen. Joe Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin. Saturday’s tracking results will begin to show any impact the heavily watched face-off may have had on voter preferences for president.

Voters’ mindsets about the election in the coming days could also be influenced by the new Labor Department report out today, showing a bigger job loss in September than many analysts had predicted.

I’m curious to see how the Michigan announcement (that McCain is pulling out and conceding the state) impacts the numbers. I’m sure the press just put that together from activity on the ground, but the way it was reported, it sounded like McCain officially announced it. It doesn’t look good, especially after the Michigan/Florida debacle and the assumption that they were likely to tilt against the Democrats.
