Obama almost certainly has had a few lines of response saved up for a face to face Ayers attack. The Timmons stuff is just McCain sticking a nail into the board that Obama is prepared to smack him with. I don't think Obama will bring it up on his own. He's perfectly happy to stick to issues since he knows he's got a big lead there, and he'd like to maintain the lead in looking like the more rational grown-up.
