You Know Things Are Not Going Well for the Right …

… when rightwing blogs have to start defending Obama over scurrilous rumors.

The once well-oiled rightwing machine has collapsed into the kind of rumor-mongering and dissociated, random attacks that marked the lefties back in their darker days.

Looks like the vast rightwing conspiracy has fallen on hard times.

Hello? 20 days until the election. This happens every time. Wait a few months after Obama takes over. We will see how many legions of right wingers draw crowds on college campuses with Obama=Terrorist signs, or how many giant Obama puppet-heads with Hitler mustaches march through the streets of Briscoe county.

It is a tough challenge for the right to match the vitriol that the left has spewed every day for the past 8 years.

Sure thing Jimmy and then wait until the economy thunders back and America regains its lost prestige, and Obama reaches 90+ approval ratings, before being reelected in a landslide that sweeps the entire nation.

It is extremists on both sides, not the overall left or right. We should not let nutjobs incite us to finger pointing at each other.

Avi, the economy won’t “thunder back” permanently until several major fundamental problems are fixed. The elephant in the living room is high-risk mortgage lending, which I haven’t heard either candidate talk about stopping. It’s not sexy, it’s not a quick fix, and it’s politically controversial, but it must be done for the long-term fiscal health of the US.

Obama is set up pretty well, if you think about it. We are bottoming out our economy now, which means whoever becomes president, they will enjoy an economic recovery. I doubt Obama will alter any free trade agreements, raise the Capital gains tax to 30%, or create a “patriotic corporations list” like he said he would, so I expect a recovery under Obama. Heck, he even said he would delay rolling back tax cuts on the wealthy in order to stimulate the economy (quite revealing, I think).

Also, the Iraq war is won, Saddam is no longer the headache he was, and Iraq is a productive country that will assist the U.S. in fighting terror. Bush didn’t bomb Iran, North Korea appears to be dissembling its nuclear program ect…

In other words, NO EXCUSES FOR OBAMA. If things go wrong, or if Iran obtains nuclear capability, there is a new war in the middle east ect, Obama cannot blame Bush. The democrats will have a filibuster proof majority in congress. They have promised peace in our time and we should expect nothing less.
