Hofstra Debate Countdown Clock Has Wrong Time
By 2008Central.net | Related entries in 2008 Election, DebatesI considered posting this in the live blog, but I think this note is worth its own post simply simply to prevent some folks from missing the debate.
The debate is scheduled to begin at 9pm eastern (8pm central time). I live in the central time zone. When I go to Hofstra’s debate website, the countdown clock has the wrong time (see screen shot below). Apparently, whoever set up the website didn’t account for anyone living outside the eastern time zone to rely on it. Anyway, spread the word in case some may be confused.
For me, the countdown clock should read 1 hour, not 2…

why does it matter what time zone you’re in? It starts when it starts!

Who said it mattered what time zone you were in?
The post was to note that Hofstra’s debate website was giving people NOT in the eastern time zone the wrong time information on the countdown clock.
How is it possible that you were confused by this information?

Grumpy much?
I assumed the 6:50 time on your screenshot represented central time. Obviously the countdown clock was wrong if that is true. But if it was 6:50 central time, that means it was 7:50 eastern time – and the countdown clock would be wrong for them too.
If the debate starts in one hour for you, would it not start in one hour for everyone? How could it be one hour away for you, but two hours away for someone else? Are we living in some strange time/space continuum?
How is it possible you don’t understand this?
