I also live in North Carolina. I know many Black as well as many White voters. Very few Black voters will vote for McCain. And very few White voters will vote for Obama. In the big cities, most yard signs are for Obama. Outside the big cities, especially in the rural areas, nearly all yard signs are for McCain.

You are badly mistaken.

I also happen to be White. Myself and my wife and our White friends are “ALL for McCain. Nothing to do with race, it has to do with CHARACTER.

Martin Luther King Jr. said: Not by the color of the skin but by the content of the character. I AGREE…. That’s why I will vote for McCain.

Isn’t it interesting or “fate” that the code words below that I have to type in includes the word: Character…

Alec Martin makes a good point. Race alone is not enough to infer voting preferences. Here in North Carolina, every white voter I know is an Obama supporter. So huge turnout in early voting amongst Democrats IS good news for Obama – but I know more than a few North Carolina “Obamacons.” Of course, there are also a lot of NC Unaffiliateds – nearly 1/4 of our voters aren’t registered with either party, and Unaffiliateds tend to split along the middle (although this year they are leaning more toward Obama, myself included). And while we do have our fair share of conservative “values voters” in both parties who will back McCain/Palin, I expect a larger than average (compared to national figures) final tally here for Bob Barr. NC conservatives tend to care more about fiscal policy, so I suspect there will be a higher number of Republicans who can’t quite bring themselves to vote Obama but aren’t thrilled with McCain/Palin, either – and they will see Barr as an attractive alternative.

All in all, this looks like an Obama year in NC, as it has since well before the NC primary in which Early Voting gave him an insurmountable lead over Clinton. I expect the same pattern will hold here in the general election. Unprecedented turnout over the next three weeks, and Obama will have a lead going into election day that McCain simply won’t be able to overcome.

Since you are using the logic that Black voters are voting early and “that’s a good sign” for Obama- I beg to differ.
I am a Black in Georgia- and MOST of the members of my Black congregation and members in my school are voting for John McCain.
We are not following Obama- just because WE are Black- as some of the polls are foolishly reporting.

I think our sentiments are best said by Black pianist and wonderful Christian spirit, Huntley Brown.

Run his name through at Google and Snopes and see what HE has to say about why his Christian Faith prevents him from voting Obama.

Thursday in NC 100,000 voters cast ballots. Friday – another 100,000 made it to the polls.
