Quick Note
By Alan Stewart Carl | Related entries in NewsThis morning I erroneously put up a post about taxes. I was still in the process of vetting the information but hit “publish” instead of “save.”
I corrected the problem fairly quickly, but I wanted to make sure anyone who happened to read the post knows why it won’t be reappearing: I discovered the info I was referencing was rather biased and left out critical details.
Thanks.

Alan, you rock.
I’d already read your post and the source you took it from, so now I’m really curious what important factors were left out. Can you shed light on it?
Thanks!

Careful there, Allan. Writing the article and THEN vetting the research is a little backwards. It’s how McCain ended up with Palin.

Now if only we could get traditional journalists to check their work like this!

Responsibility in journalism? Maybe you could forward this note to all the MSM outlets.

Jake — yeah, I usually don’t, but my alarm bells didn’t go off until I’d already imported my post into our writeboard.
Stuperb: The source did not factor in the fact that Obama’s tax plan will maintain a large number of the Bush tax cuts for those making under $250,000. I should have caught it right away and saved myself the trouble, but blogging means being your own editor and sometimes the “this is b.s.” part of the brain gets overwhelmed by the “ooh, THIS is a good post” part of the brain.
Again, sorry for the error.

Right. it’s all about the “MSM,” because, as we all know, the “New Media” (or “New Propagandists” or “Right-Wing Media,” pick your label)… yeah, those guys are perfect. They never make mistakes. Thanks for the laugh.
Meanwhile…
I was going to reply to that, as well. Bottom line: The “Bush Tax Cuts” should’ve been repealed at least 7 years ago. The day we first went into Afghanistan to fight the Taliban, and begin the “War On Terror,” those tax cuts should’ve ended.
And yeah, you can gripe and moan about “spending” ’til the cows come home, but there’s not enough spending to cut to make up the difference. Better we pay for our war now, than pass the costs on (with interest) to our children, grandchildren etc.

Well, my apologies back at you for using a double “l” in your name. A family member spells his name Allan, and we’ve gotten too used to it.
