Rasmussen: Obama Up By 5

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, McCain, Polls

Obama - 51%
McCain - 46%

McCain loses one as the numbers look to be solidifying at right around a 4 or 5% lead for Obama.

Rasmussen talks about early voting and preference…

Nearly a third of voters say they have already cast their ballot and Obama leads by 9 among this group. Obama also has a similar lead among the small group who have not voted but still plan to vote early. The candidates are essentially even among those who plan to vote on Tuesday.

Not surprisingly, the number of persuadable voters has declined sharply as Election Day draws near. 47% of voters say they are certain they will vote for Obama and won’t change their mind. 43% say the same about McCain. 6% have a preference for one of the major party candidates but could change their mind, 2% plan to vote for a third party option and 2% remain undecided.

So…there just aren’t enough voters left for McCain to swing his way to win it. Especially if Obama is up 9 with early voters and is tied with voters on election day.

The 5 day:
11/01/2008: McCain - 46%, Obama - 51%
10/31/2008: McCain - 47%, Obama - 51%
10/30/2008: McCain - 46%, Obama - 51%
10/29/2008: McCain - 47%, Obama - 50%
10/28/2008: McCain - 46%, Obama - 51%

More tomorrow…
