So…What Happened?

The Palin pick was indeed devastating, and I think all of the recent polling proves that.
Ultimately, Obama knew that this year was about change and he stuck with that message throughout.

I find these poll results interesting because I’ve seen so many letters to the editor in our local papers from people who say they’re only voting for McCain because they like Palin. I see the same comments in the papers’ man-on-the-street interviews.
Of course, I live in the state that elected Jim DeMint, so we’re hardly a good barometer of national opinion. But that super-conservative base people keep talking about? She really seems to be appealing to them.

At first I thought Obama’s placards exlaiming “Change” were too ambiguous and hollow. It made me wonder, “what kind of change are you talking about, Barry?”. Yet, it seems to have won the day. McCain picked up on this ambiguity early in the general election cycle but then dropped it. Clearly, McCain’s scatter shot approach failed, while Obama’s vague but consistent message won out.
