Obama: Right, Left Or Center?
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Barack, Democrats, Legislation, Republicans, VideoWell, we know he isn’t going to be right. Not after a win like that.
Still, the following panel on Hardball essentially agrees that he should make sure he has a more centrist nature than Bush, although there is a funny moment when Chris Matthews accuses the Republican on the panel of speaking with a forked tongue.

We’ll see if this is how Obama really governs, but I have a feeling that he understands exactly where he is in history and if he can push legislation that most everybody can get behind, history will be incredibly kind to him.

I think Obama would like to govern from the middle or at least reasonably close to it, if only because he’s not stupid and he has to realize that anything else would harm the nation and his re-election chances. The trouble there is that this will inevitably put him at odds with many of his fellow Dems in Congress, not to mention a big chunk of the people who voted him in. I get the feeling he’ll end up making a lot more compromises with the Left than with the Right.
