Palin is extremely stupid, but she’s also extremely ambitious. Maybe if she realizes that the only way to “plow through” these doors she keeps going on about is to learn something or at least looks as though she knows something, she will embark upon some kind of four-year intensive learning course. Considering her college record, though, her disdain for educated people and her single-minded focus on reaching her goal through god’s will and charm alone, I don’t see her hitting the books. So in four years will Obama have fumbled on the economy, created some (even more) horrible situation in Iraq and / or Afghanistan while working overtime to alienate white people, Christians, working class and rural Americans? If the answer is yes, then Sally from the Valley Palin is the future of the party. I don’t think this scenario is likely. Also, don’t forget-- Mary Carey is a republican and really hot—she might rise up and challenge Palin! She has better public speaking skills and just as much knowledge of world events, not that either of these qualities are prerequisites for the presidency as far as the base base are concerned. But if Obama doesn’t ruin every single thing he’s been elected to fix, the GOP is going to need someone who can debate him on national and international issues and win, not someone who’s going to run around stumping on cute anecdotes about her kids interspersed with shout-outs to the brownshirts. But it won't. It is a nearly impossible feat due to the fact that the ultra-conservatives are known, if for nothing else, for being rigid and intolerant. Compromise, in the matters of religion, does not happen. Their conscience will not allow it. The gap between the religious fundamental Christian conservatives and the more moderate Republicans is wider now than ever before in recent history. I see the party itself dividing into two separate parties in the future. Perhaps they can branch off and call themselves "Palinites" and spare the rest of the GOP the embarrassment of having this woman represent them. The party needs to change, yes. But it won’t. And I take no pleasure from watching folks trying to shovel dirt on her in the aftermath of the election, some with unseemly glee.
