I think any nationalized health care plan will be more of a catch net with limited benefits. That way it will be inexpensive, and will cover preventive care, early diagnosis and treatment, a limited drug schedule, and DME. In any case it will be quite helpful for the struggling wage worker that can't even afford to step into a minor emergency clinic.

Its not going to be what you guys think. It will resemble "Romney Care" here in Massachusetts. It is a law that requires you to sign up for private health care. Conservatives do not necesarily oppose this.

As someone who's wife had breast cancer, and now finds it almost impossible to find health insurance, tell me why Universal Health coverage is a bad thing.

"Whereas I didn’t think some comprehensive package would be doable in Obama’s first term, I think he’ll definitely try to start laying the groundwork now for a vote in 2010 after the midterms…" - JG

I'll take a bet on this one. His best shot at getting this done is right away. He'll be in the honeymoon period, the GOP is on their heels, he is enjoying the most support he will have for his entire administration (it always works that way), he needs to placate the left wing, and most Americans really want something done on health care. It has broad base support. It'll be a top priority, and he will get it through. The fact is, the GOP does not have any real basis to oppose it, as they campaigned on a variation on the theme. Oh sure - there will be a lot of sturm and drung over the details, but some version of Health Care will be passed by summer. A high visibility promise kept (even if it does not look exactly like the campaign version) to kick things off right.

We are born, we die, and in-between, we all need a touch-up and a little paint.

It's high time we had universal healthcare in the United States.

Yes, it is...
