Kyle! , Jindal was never a Muslim. His parents are from India and he was a Hindu prior to becoming a Christian. Hinduism is completely the opposite of Islam. But even if he was a Muslim, why should that be a factor?. I am tired of all the unwritten criteria/background one must poses to become president in this country. Avinash is right, Jindal won't be able to win the racist republican vote because of ignorant individuals like you who make assumptions on the basis of one's skin color.

"the first non-white since Reconstruction" Say what? The man is not Oriental (yellow, i.e. East Asian), nor is he of African ancestry (black). Now if they are using "white" as a synonym for European ancestry, the Post may be correct that far. Except that Armenia is not in Europe either, and California (for one) has had a governor of Armenian ancestry.

I guess what I'm saying is, the racial picture in the US has gotten way too complex for the symplistic terminology that the press uses. And that's before we start noticing all the people of mixed ancestry. It's time to start calling them on it every time, until they find some other way to frame the discussion.

Good, I hope he picks Palin for his running mate. Four years from now I'm sure America will be more than ready to elect a pair of creationist airheads.

Why would GOP go the way of Obama and pick a muslim who says he's a Christian? Jindal is a complete unknown. Louisiana refuses to release his birth certificate too.
