Sarah Palin’s Lament
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Media, PalinI argued again and again and again that not opening Palin up to the press right off the bat was a horrible idea.
Now, upon further reflection, it seems she agrees…
The biggest mistake made was that I could have called more shots on this: the opportunities that were not seized to speak to more Americans via media. I was not allowed to do very many interviews, and the interviews that I did were not necessarily those I would have chosen. But I was so thankful to have the opportunity to run with John McCain that I was not going to argue with the strategy decisions that some of his people were making regarding the media contacts. But if I would have been in charge, I would have wanted to speak to more reporters because that’s how you get your message out to the electorate.
If she would have filled her first couple weeks with grassroots interviews with local television stations and then done a Couric interview, she would have been a lot more comfortable with the media at that point and probably wouldn’t have dropped the ball.
I doubt she’ll make the same mistake twice.

Huh. What self-serving crap. Her mistake was taking a spot she wasn’t quite ready for yet. A couple weeks of painful on-the-job training sank the ship.
What followed looked so good by comparison that lots of folks proceeded to hand out the mulligan. But if she gets another shot, she’ll have to do better than repeating platitudes and party-line cant.
She got pretty good press late for doing that. because at THAT point in time it would have been unkind to slam her for a lack of original insight. But mark my words, next time (if there is one)she’ll need to do better than to recite the republican catechism.
Pull the string and she talks about families. Pull it again and she talks about main street values. Pull it again and she says government needs to get out of the way. The cow says moo and the dends raisinsuck says quack. Palin needs her OWN material.

It’s nice to see sexism dead
“Her mistake was that she spoke at all.”
I didn’t know that liberals still think a woman’s place is in the kitchen anymore…I thought they were tolerant and would give everyone a place at the table…my bad.

What’s so sexist about calling a moron a moron? What I can’t believe is, after eight years of the disaster that has been the Bush presidency, crackpot conservatives were ready to put another intellectual lightweight close to the presidency. Do you folks not understand that brains do count?
