WSJ/NBC: 71% Approval For Obama
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Barack, Economy, PollsThe honeymoon continues, but trust that this number will go way down as economic realities start to sink in over the next year.
Some 71% said they approve of the incoming administration’s efforts, while just 14% disapprove. Those ratings have held steady since the previous WSJ/NBC News poll in December, when slightly more (73%) approved and slightly less (13%) disapproved.
So what about that economy? How do folks feel?
Not so good…
More than half of Americans, 57%, believe the economic recession will end between one to three years from now. Some 17% were even more pessimistic, stating that they believe the recession will last more than three years. Just 4% said they believe it is “almost over†or will be within the next six months. And 20% said it will be over within the next year.
That 24% are in for a rude awakening, especially when the next wave of mortgage foreclosures hit.
And, again, Obama’s numbers will begin to drop because he’ll have to take ownership of this economy. What’s more, it’s looking like Dems in Congress aren’t going to want to do that whole “unity” thing Obama won a landslide with.
Oh well…
