The World Watches Obama Inauguration

As I scan the wires I do get a sense that people all across the globe are genuinely inspired that Obama has become President.

I’ve been traveling through Asia for the past 4 months and every conversation with a local goes something like this:
LOCAL
Where are you from?
ME
The United States. America.
LOCAL
Obama! We like Obama.
ME
Yes, I like him too.
[pause]
LOCAL
Did you vote for Obama?
ME
Yes.
LOCAL
Good. Good. Bush will be gone in [exact number of days until inauguration]
Suffice to say, people the world over are excited about this. I just got to Egypt and the amount of hope and expectation placed on Obama is more extreme than what’s going on in the States.

Donovan Keith has this right. I know several people from Europe and the Middls East. The sentiment is the same everywhere – great hope for Obama to bring back the America that everybody wants to believe in, and great relief that Bush is gone!
