It suits the eagerness of folks to spew anti-GOP vitriol. So they pretend that JTP has been granted the exact same status as every other "consultant". Only a moron would think he's anywhere near the inner circle. The GOP is smart enough to know that despite his faults, JTP has populist appeal with their rank and file. So they've co-opted him, brought him on board in a minor role, and they're using him as a sort of a canary in a coal mine. And that's a great analogy, because a canary makes a GREAT "consultant" if you are worried about fumes. And JTP has a brain of similar size to a canary. But all this manufacturing of stunned horror, as though JTP #1 has nothing at all to offer the GOP, and #2 has been accorded smething akin to Gingrichian insight status? Spare me.
