Site Issues Caused By Media Temple Meltdown
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bad Decisions, TechnologyHey all,
So some of you probably noticed that on Saturday and Sunday the site was completely gone. Even I couldn’t get into it to post a message.
The reason? Our hosting service, Media Temple, had a complete meltdown that caused loss of service for nearly 25% of the smaller sites that they host. Unfortunately Donklephant was one of the those and nothing could be done about it except wait around and hope they’d fix the problem. This morning, about an hour ago, the problem was solved and here we are.
Still, you’ll probably hear from me in a couple days about moving the site to a new hosting service. Any suggestions?
Thanks for understanding and sorry for the downtime.

Justin, I run a small hosting service currently. Feel free to e-mail me your bandwidth and storage requirements, and I can either provide something or name someone who can.

Man, I think all the webhosts are getting worse lately.
About a year ago I would’ve recommended BlueHost, especially since you’re running Wordpress, but a client of mine has had her site crash quite a bit lately.
I also used to recommend Dotster, but their email servers have been unreliable lately, which has caused a lot of problems for my politician clients.
I’m running out of good solutions, too – hope someone else has a good suggestion.
Glad you’re up and running!

I use Westhost in Utah and am very impressed. Great service and reliability. If you want to get more into things and do not mind Canadian hosting, then Q9 Networks.

That sucked. But since you’re moving again I volunteer to watch someone else move it :P
