Tim Russert always had that folder with him, at every interview. While they smiled on the outside, many of Russert's guests probably cringed on the inside, because they knew they were about to be handed their own words back to them. I can't wrap my head around the amount of sheer drudgery that goes into something like that. I know there are transcription services that you can subscribe to, but still: Somebody, probably several 'somebodies," are watching all these shows, taking notes, transcribing when necessary, etc. Stewart and Colbert are certainly carving a useful, informative niche for themselves.
