He is not eligible for Re-election. So the question is does he resign for the good of the party? Give the assistant gov. the chance for the next election cycle and hold the seat? Although I think it’s in pretty safe Rep hands in that state.

Er, he’s on salary. ALL his time is “state time.” He picks his nose and drops steamers on “state time.” So not much of a point, really. Unless the state paid for the trip itself, in which case it is indeed a major point.

The idea that a sitting guv can just completely disappear for several days and the media somehow won’t investigate until they know exactly where he was and what he was doing? DUMB. DUMBER THAN A BOX OF FUCKING ROCKS. Obviously the little head was doing all the thinking there. Regardless of which head was doing the thinking, if he stands for re-election I’m sure the voters will render a verdict on that.

Right now there’s a clique in Argentina roiling in shock. One of their members met a man on the internet, who claimed to be powerful American politician, and it turned out he was not full of shit.

Once again, Fox news listed him as a democrat on their news story.

But who wants to bet that this “woman” will soon morph into just a “man”? I give it two days before he goes into rehab for “alcoholism”. Which is what republicans call being gay and trying to deny it.

Somehow I am guessing that going to Argentina isn’t going to help he and his wife, “work through it”. This will be too fresh for him to be a legit Presidential candidate for 2012, but I don’t think he will be impeached. His next election would be tricky, but South Carolina isn’t exactly Berkley.

Part of the problem for Sanford now is this story will drag on for a while now that every media outlet is going to try and find out how many times he went to Argentina and was his staff aware at all.

Of course Mitt Romney is doing the happy dance at the moment.
