I think to invoke the cities argument, they would've had to vote for obama overwhelmingly, not just 55% or so. If you don't think this movement is based around racism, then you haven't been paying attention.

In fairness some of those states don't really have anything that would qualify as a city. I mean, Jackson? Little Rock? Columbia? Those aren't cities.

I agree in general about idiots and political effects (your "friends" are almost always more dangerous to you than your enemies...especially your deranged "friends") but there's some problems with TechPresident's analysis. Google Trends gives not only states but cities, and the city list doesn't match his thesis. Half the top ten cities are in states Obama won and the top three cities are all blue-state ones, the top two being VA suburbs of DC, which leads the other list and is as blue as it gets. Maybe there's a rural-effect distortion.

Colorado is also a puzzler. The highest traffic came out of lib-leaning Aurora, with uber-white fundie-land Colorado Springs trailing far back in 2nd. When I went to check I expected C-Springs to lead the pack from either the racist or hyper-right factors.

I'm gonna go with "not enough information" for now, but this could be fun to watch. :-)
