The Roundup
By Jacob | Related entries in NewsHey everybody! It’s time for the comments of the week.
It’s been a busy one – some terrific posts and even more great comments. What follows is just a small sampling of Donklephant goodness. Please follow the links attached to the names to read more or to get involved in the conversation.
Here goes:
What makes Donklephant so special to me is that regardless of what side of an issue the writer falls on, it’s with an open and great respect for opposite viewpoints. I look forward to that continuing here. – Terry
It makes so much sense to have not only a public option, but to have a single payer system one has to wonder why anyone is opposed to it. – Gerryf
Maybe the “public option†or even a single-payer system is an appropriate element in a reformed health care system. However, it should only be a part of a solution, rather than the holy grail single-payer proponents make it out to be. – MiketheActuary
Check the stats – Indies made history by electing Obama in the primaries. Indies played a crucial role in electing the first African American President. Yes, we voted for a Democrat, but that doesn’t mean we’re Democrats! Following the election our numbers swelled and continue to do so! Indies are a growing force for reform. – B. Drosser
Perhaps the next couple of election cycles are poised to offer a chance to significantly change the American political landscape toward a truly open, multi-party democracy. – Michael Silverton
The federal deficit is being increased in order to destroy perfectly functional cars, who’s replacement parts are made in America, in order to encourage Americans to go deeper into debt to finance new foreign-brand automobiles. – Jimmy the Dhimmi
Why in the world would you think the makers of the poster care a whit about aptness on such an intellectual level? – Kranky Kritter
If you wanted a negative comic character for President Obama, perhaps Ozymandias, the Kingpin, or perhaps Lex Luthor – they’re all about control and polish. – David
if Obama gets another pick or two on Supes, the whole abortion question becomes moot on the federal election level. Dems have used abortion as a wedge fear issue to keep centrists in their camp. With a liberal slant on the Supreme Court, the risk of Republican judicial picks are mitigated. Centrists can come home to their fiscal conservative roots. – mw
Mike, this is a politics blog, not a television show. So, according to the JPG, it’s cursing. – Justin Gardner
Given that evidence it’s pretty easy to conclude Boehner would vote down the Bill of Rights if Obama proposed it. – Nick Benjamin
Have a great week!
