Drudge got it wrong by giving it screaming headline placement in order to imply that it was Obama who ordered the station not to run the story. If Obama weren't the President, this wouldn't even be a story, let alone one in 128-pt font with blaring sirens on the side. But because Obama's the president, suddenly it's a conspiracy. Sorry, that's a lie.

Come on Doug...

They weren't "ordered" to not run it. They were persuaded by the committee to not rerun it. Again, we all have the right to call up a news station and talk to the editors and give our side of the story. This is what PR people do. And Drudge knows this, but he's attempting to act as if Obama is somehow involved. Pretty transparent and factually wrong.

Where did Drudge get it wrong ?

The station held back on reruning the story after the people trying to get the Olympics to the city said it would "harm" the effort.

It's a real story. People in Chicago aren't necessarily thrilled about bringing the Olympics there, any more than people in DC were when someone had the boneheaded idea of trying to bring them here. And, there's real evidence that host cities end up losing money on these deals.

And they decided to drop the story.

That doesn't really seem like hard-nosed journalism to me.
