By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2012 Election, Polls, Republicans

How much of a toss up is the GOP nomination right now in these early stages? The title says it all. Here’s the graph from Gallup, and note how far Rick Perry has fallen. Forgive me, but this is the type of horserace stuff I find extremely interesting. Because while Herman Cain’s numbers may be [...]

Sarah Palin Isn’t Running In 2012, But 2016 or 2020…

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2012 Election, Palin

Personally, I think this is a smart, savvy move. Here’s what she had to say… After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into [...]

94% Of Candidates Who Raise The Most Money Win Election?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2012 Election, Elections, Money

Dylan Ratigan wants to get money COMPLETELY out of politics. Not just corporate money or soft money…ALL money. Pretty bold. But when you consider his stat, which is the title of this post, it’s pretty sobering to consider how much of a vice grip money has on how our political system is shaped. Because it’s [...]

Gallup: Rick Perry Leads GOP Frontrunners

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2012 Election, Democrats, Perry, Polls, Republicans

Apparently people are kind of tired of Mitt Romney. The graph… That’s an notable swing and it suggests that Perry is really making waves with diehard conservatives. Another notable trend…Ron Paul’s support continues to grow…and outpaces Bachmann’s. So it sees like the GOP nomination is between a few players. Romney, Perry, Paul and Bachmann. Perhaps [...]

Jeezus… Here’s the video… If the vid doesn’t play…here’s basically what he said… Texas Governor Rick Perry, who entered the presidential campaign on Saturday, appeared to suggest a violent response would be warranted should Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke “print more money” between now and the election. Following a very disappointing Straw poll showing yesterday, the Minnesota Governor says it’s time to move on. From NY Times: Just hours after his third-place finish in Iowa, Mr. Pawlenty said on ABC’s “This Week” program that his message “didn’t get the kind of traction we needed and hoped for” in order to continue. “There [...]

Rick Perry’s College Transcripts Cause For Concern?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2012 Election, Perry

Okay, I know the title seems leading as if the answer should be, “Why yes, they should be,” but I’m genuinely posing the question. Basically, is your academic prowess in your late teens and early 20s really important to being a viable presidential candidate? Huff Post got ahold of the grades and they’re pretty bad. [...]

Hypothetically speaking – “Americans Elect” could disenfranchise New York (or any other state) in the 2012 presidential election.

By mw | Related entries in 2012 Election, 3rd Party, Bloomberg, New York

It is November 7, 2012. A plurality of the people of New York state have voted to put their confidence in AE candidate Michael Bloomberg. In a close election, neither Democratic candidate Barack Obama or Republican candidate Mitt Romney have secured a majority of electoral votes. New York’s 31 electoral votes will now determine who will be president. Yet by AE bylaws, Michael Bloomberg is now sidelined and will not decide how to cast the New York electoral votes on behalf of the people of New York. Instead, it is the Americans Elect delegates who will decide whether Obama or Romney receive New York’s 31 electoral votes and the presidency. As a practical matter, the people of the state of New York will be completely disenfranchised in the 2012 electoral college vote.

Who’s kidding who?

By Jacob | Related entries in 2012 Election, Barack, Democrats, News, Republicans

JinBmore tells me what I don’t want to hear: I have two words for you: “President Bachmann”. They laughed about Reagan the same way they do about her. My immediate feeling is that independents and centrists will never vote for her and they will decide the 2012 election. After some consideration it seems that less-informed, [...]

Two cheers for divided government.

By mw | Related entries in 2012 Election, Democrats, Divided Government, Republicans

Truly a double header. Not only does the New York Times provide a reasonably accurate description of the virtues of divided, but we also get their graphic version of the tortured creature known to us fondly in these parts as the “Donklephant”.

What?!?!?!?!? He wasn’t really running? That’s nuts!!! I was certain he was!!! Okay, so I never thought that The Donald was serious about the 2012 GOP nomination, and now he confirms it. And, in the process, he has made Republican challengers who have ever made birther noises look completely ridiculous. You know who you are! [...]
