Romney Expected To Win Wyoming Caucuses

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Romney, Ron Paul, Wyoming

Wyoming caucuses?
Exactly…
While it’s been under the radar, the state has gotten some attention from the candidates. Sansonetti says that only three candidates have not visited the state at all: John McCain, Mike Huckabee, and Rudy Giuliani. In addition to the candidate visiting twice, Romney’s wife Ann and his sons have visited. Direct mail and phone [...]

McCain Has Romney’s Number

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, McCain, New Hampshire, Romney

Romney this morning:
“There’s no way that Sen. McCain is going to be able to come to New Hampshire and say that he’s the candidate that represents change — that he’ll change Washington. He is Washington,” Romney said on the campaign trail Friday.
Romney in 2002:
“One of the reasons the people of America honor Sen. McCain and [...]

The Word For 2008: Change

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Change, Edwards, Huckabee, Romney

It’s telling how many of the candidates are saying the word “change” today.
Barack obviously owns the word since he talked about it first. He understood this zeitgeist sooner than everybody else. Huckabee also says it and stands for a real change within the Republican party, definitely moreso than Barack would for the Democratic party. [...]

Huckabee Wins? Ron Paul Could Tie For 3rd?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Fred Thompson, Huckabee, Iowa, Republicans, Romney, Ron Paul

There’s no way I’m calling it this early, but that’s what CNN is reporting. Huck is about 10% ahead of Romney, and that’s because 60% of the GOP voters who came out tonight were evangelicals. Big, big night for Huckabee and a big disappointment for Romney.
Surprise of the night? Fred Thompson, followed closely by McCain [...]

Could Ron Paul Win 3rd In Iowa?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Huckabee, Iowa, Money, New Hampshire, Republicans, Romney, Ron Paul

I think it’s actually realistic. Here’s why…
Romney and Huckabee have 1st and 2nd locked up. The order in which they’ll finish is still up in the air, but I have a feeling that Huckabee could grab 1st because people just don’t seem to like Romney that much. Still, he has spent a ton of money [...]

Des Moines Register Poll: Barack Widens Lead

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Edwards, Hillary, Huckabee, Iowa, Polls, Republicans, Romney

This is the last poll before the caucus and it is historically very accurate. That doesn’t mean it will ultimately prove to be dead on, but it’s still VERY good news for his campaign. This is fantastic momentum going into January 3rd and everybody knows it.
From the DMR:
Obama was the choice of 32 percent of [...]

Romney’s Woes

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Money, Romney

I doubt he’ll run out of money, but the following says a lot about his inability to gain true front runner status.
From The Huffington Post:
From a purely business point of view the past four weeks have marked an extraordinary setback for the Romney campaign.
Since January 1, 2007, the former Massachusetts governor has spent well in [...]

McCain Attacks Romney With His Own Words

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, McCain, Republicans, Romney

Question for Republicans…since your party painted John Kerry as such a flip flopper in 2004, do you really think it’s wise to nominate Romney? Because ads like the following will no doubt pop up time and time again in the general election.

And isn’t it interesting the ad was created by some media consultants who left [...]

Hillary And Romney Coming Back In Iowa?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Hillary, Huckabee, Iowa, Romney

Recently, Barack and Hillary were tied and Huckabee led Romney. Well, things have changed, at least according to one poll.
From CNN:
In the new ARG survey, conducted December 20-23, she leads the Illinois senator by 15 percentage points, 34 to 19 percent. Obama is now in a statistical tie for second place with John Edwards, who [...]

Poll: Romney’s JFK Speech Flops?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Gender, Polls, Race, Religion, Romney

That’s the scoop from E&P:
NEW YORK A new Gallup Poll finds that better than one in six Americans, including similar numbers of Republicans and Democrats, indicate they would not support their party’s nominee for president if that person were a Mormon.
The poll was conducted from Dec. 6 to 9, immediately following the major speech by [...]

Huckabee Leads In Michigan

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Giuliani, Huckabee, Polls, Republicans, Romney

Folks, this isn’t just an Iowa phenomenon. A number of national polls show Huckabee on top and this latest Rasmussen poll from Michigan shows him in a dead heat with Giuliani and Romney:
Mike Huckabee’s surging campaign has created a three-way toss-up in Michigan’s Republican Primary. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds Huckabee earning 21% [...]

Marc Ambinder has the numbers:
Obama: 28 Huckabee: 29
Clinton: 25 Romney: 24
Edwards: 23 Giuliani: 13
More from The Corner:
The new poll from the Des Moines Register shows some dramatic changes in the Republican race in Iowa. The headline is that Mike Huckabee, who was 17 points behind Mitt Romney in the paper’s October poll, [...]

Huckabee Has A Shot At Winning Iowa

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Huckabee, Iowa, Polls, Republicans, Romney

A new poll says he’s leading. And folks, he’s for real and the support he has is real too.
I’ve gathered this not only from the thigns I’ve read, but also from talking to family members who live in Iowa and are going to vote for him. This is grassroots, “we trust this guy” type [...]

2) Question to Rudy Giuliani regarding why he has not visited Iraq yet.
3) Question to Mitt Romney regarding the information gap in the U.S. regarding the distinction between Sunni and Shia Islam.

How Rudy Could Best Romney

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Dodd, Edwards, Fred Thompson, Giuliani, Hillary, Huckabee, Iowa, Money, Republicans, Romney, Ron Paul

From the Politico daily newsletter:
Fractured results in the initial primaries and caucuses disrupt Mitt Romney’s plan to rack up a series of convincing wins ahead of the big states where Giuliani expects to run well. It’s harder to build a head of steam when you’re fighting gnats, and any success the also-rans achieve will dilute [...]
