Edwards: I Will Not Be VP

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Edwards, Hillary, Law, Video

I think that was basically assumed, but the media definitely used his endorsement to suggest he could be in the running.
Today, on TODAY, he puts those rumors to rest…

But Attorney General?
Well, that’s another story…

McCain’s Hamas Quote In Context Shows Consistency

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, McCain, Media, Partisan Hacks, Terrorism, The World, Video

Good catch from Hot Air…

While I still think it was hacky for McCain to raise money off of Hamas’ “endorsement” of Obama, it’s clear his 2006 statements square with his current stance.
What’s also clear is that James Rubin was clearly mischaracterizing McCain’s statement and likes to play fast and loose with the facts. I mean, [...]

Video: Obama Praises Bush Sr.’s Gulf War Strategy

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Bush, Foreign Policy, History, The War On Terrorism, The World, Video, War

There have always been whispers that George Sr. really thinks his son’s Iraq policy is wrong. That’s never been confirmed by him personally, but former aides are on the record as saying so.
And now Obama is giving his strategy the thumbs up as a juxtaposition to the his son’s.
I wonder how he’d feel about the [...]

Video: McCain Sees The Future

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, McCain, The World, Video

As a followup to Alan’s excellent rundown of what McCain thinks the future will look like under his guidance, here’s a video from the AP…

I applaud McCain for his willingness to share his vision, but much more detail is needed. Because a lot of this sounds exactly like the kind of unrealistic, wishful thinking he [...]

John Edwards To Endorse Obama

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Edwards, Hillary, Video

I called this a couple days ago after a very strong hint by the former North Carolina senator.
From ABC:
ABC News’ Kate Snow, Raelyn Johnson, Sunlen Miller, and Rick Klein Report: Former Sen. John Edwards is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy Wednesday evening, in a dramatic attempt by the Obama campaign to answer concerns regarding [...]

How Significant Are Dem Wins In Repub Strongholds?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Democrats, Republicans, Video

Just take a look at how big these districts went for Bush in 2004…

MSNBC has more…

Long story short, Republicans are going to start running away from Bush and Cheney like they’re radioactive. And if they don’t, well, they better be ready to suffer a similar fate.
Of note, the Republicans ran a lot of anti-Obama ads [...]

Clinton: I Don’t Believe In Quitting

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Hillary, Video

One of many reasons she gives for staying in the race…

I wonder what she’ll have to say after the Edwards endorsement, especially since everybody knows she spent so much time going after it.
Also, there are many ways for her to have a voice in this campaign and not actually be “running.” But hey, she knows [...]

Obama Adds 2 More Superdelegates Today

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Michigan, Super Delegates!!!, Video, Wisconsin

College Democrats of America President Lauren Wolfe and Vice President Awais Khaleel endorse Obama today via YouTube:

However, since Wolfe is from Michigan, her vote will only count if the DNC comes to some sort of agreement with the state. That’s why I’m only adding 1 to Obama’s total below.
Post-Pennsylvania Delegate Pickups:
Obama - 56.5
Clinton - 14.5 [...]

Clinton Wins West Virginia 2 To 1?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Hillary, Video, West Virginia

That’s what the exit polls are suggesting and MSNBC just called it.
If that holds up, she’ll get 19 delegates and he’ll get about 9. So +10 for her tonight is likely.
By the way, if she got 75% of the remaining pledged delegates, she’d have to get 80% of the remaining superdelegates to catch up.
Watch [...]

Jon Stewart Interviews Doug Feith On Iraq

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Bush, History, Iraq, Terrorism, Video, War

Feith is famous for being the guy who formed the “Office of Special Plans”, a group that cherry-picked the intelligence for the administration so they could justify going into Iraq because of WMDs and ties to al Qaeda. And now he’s out on the talk show circuit hawking his book which claims that their was [...]

John Edwards Voted For Obama

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Edwards, Hillary, North Carolina, Video

It’s at about :30 seconds in. Edwards was asked if he’ll be able to endorse the person he voted for in North Carolina. Edwards said, with a big grin on this face, “I’d say highly likely, yes.”

I think that’s pretty obvious.

McCain Launches Environmental Campaign

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Energy, Environment, McCain, Video

For the next couple weeks he’ll be talking about how we can address these problems.
And maybe in a sign of how progressive McCain seems to be on the environment, the Sierra Club says they may not endorse anybody in 2008.
From WSJ:
In a sign of Sen. McCain’s potential appeal to environmentally conscious voters, a top official [...]

Hillary Lives By SNL And Dies By SNL

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Hillary, Video

She cited a comedy sketch as proof Obama was getting easier treatment from the media.
Wonder if she’ll bring this one up…

Pop culture has officially pushed back.
