Desperate Dems Rushing Obama?

By amba | Related entries in Elections, General Politics

Sure sounds like it. This talk of running him in 2008, when he’ll be 46, is a little scary. Ever tried to make guacamole with an unripe avocado? You have to throw the whole thing out.

As an independent centrist, I’m as intrigued and encouraged by Obama as anybody. I just hope they don’t try to gas-ripen him, or waste him against McCain.

JFK was younger than that when he was elected and he beat out guys like Adlai, LBJ, Humphrey…the relative likes of which are lacking in the Democratic Party today.

I’d vote for Obama over McCain, no doubt, but seriously, I don’t think he’s a centrist. He talks the talk, but the votes show he doesn’t walk the walk. He follows the party.

It is a little early to call anyone desperate regarding the 2008 election.

JFK was younger, but more experienced.

This is manufactured fluff. Obama has stated several times he doesn’t plan to run for the WH. I wouldn’t count a VP position out though.

In my mind, at least he’s talking about building bridges. With such a polarized Senate, that’s a good start. But yes, eventually his record is going to have to match his words. But right now every vote counts, and Obama is a Dem. It’s a very tough position to be in, and it’s not like he’s a Dem Senator from a red state. His constituency is quite “blue.”

Um’ most of you probably didn’t follow Obama’s Senate campaign. Sorry to break it to you but he is in fact LIBERAL. I don’t think he’s ever tried to come across as centrist or moderate. He’s still an appealing figure.

  8. amba Says:

How come he was so well received in conservative, red southern Illinois?

  9. Meredith Says:

    Because Obama is the bomb!!!!
