Who’s A Stronger Candidate? Obama Or Hillary?

National Journal asked Dem and Repub politicians what they think. The results are telling.

Dems: (Obama +13)
Clinton - 41%
Obama - 54%
No difference - 5%

Repubs: (Clinton +8)
Clinton - 53%
Obama - 45%
No difference - 3%

I really think Dems like Barack’s potential to bring people into the party, and they’re worried about Hillary’s well established negatives with swing voters. On the other hand, Repubs think there’s not much left to hit Hillary on, and know that Barack is an unknown quantity…and that means he’ll be a lot easier to attack.

So ultimately, I think both Dems and Repubs want Barack to run. It’s going to be one hell of a general election.

Or the Republicans are trying to influence the race by making it sound like they fear Hillary more than Obama

This isn’t very surprising. Republicans favor the candidate who most closely shares thier values and utilizes their tactics. It makes perfect sense that they would think that a candiate who uses Rove-style tactics is the stronger candidate.
