Racist Obama Button Being Sold At GOP Texas Convention

Many things have been labelled as “racist” in this campaign season, and most of them don’t come anywhere close to qualifying.
However, this button is absolutely, 100% out of line, and I hope that once the state GOPers find out about it, they’ll demand this vendor leaves. I mean, this is a convention where Mike Huckabee was speaking. I wouldn’t imagine he’d be pleased to find out that he could be associated with something this vile.
A little bit more background, the vendor is being hosted by RepublicanMarket.com, and after a quick survey of their site, I can’t find this button for sale…which is actually quite a relief. So it seems likely that this isn’t endorsed by them either, but if they’re providing the space they’re also responsible for the content that’s being sold.

So did party officials know about this button being sold all weekend at their convention? In an interview with Election Central, Texas GOP political director Hans Klingler answered with an emphatic No. “We had hundreds of vendors at the convention,” Klingler said. “I don’t know what the merchandise is, we don’t check the merchandise.”Klingler added that the party would have done something if it had been brought to their attention at the time. “We wouldn’t have let him sell it.”
Also, it looks like RepublicanMarket.com was actually running the booth that was selling this button, so that means they probably made it.
Classy.

RepublicanMarket itself might not even be to blame. Making buttons is pretty simple technology. A single stupid vendor could have come up with the idea and stamped them out on the spot. They certainly have plausible deniability so long as the button isn’t on their site or wasn’t available at all their booths.
Saddly, this is probably just one of many racial “jokes” we’ll see this campaign.

I’ve got to say that I find lots of references to diapers and McCain but nothing about diapers with McCain’s name on them. And I agree with Justin about how inappropriate it would be.

Did anyone catch Mike Huckabee’s speech at the Texas GOP convention? He was fantastic. Inspiring, funny, witty, motivating and a super surrogate for Senator McCain. This man can take command of a room like nobody!!! Lots of excited Republicans at that convention, many of whom voted for Mike. My point is, McCain/Huckabee’08…..priceless!!!!!!

Justin – You are right. David demeans himself with that stuff. But going to your challenge to “discuss why pointing out buttons like this are important in the grand scheme of the campaign season.” Honestely, I don’t know. It puts a highlight on an infinitismal, meaningless fringe margin that no one cares about. It is similar to what FOX News does when it pulls out some totally inarticulate goof-ball nut to defend the anit-Iraq War position. There is always going to be stupid, hating people. No offense, but I fully expect the Obama supporters to stir up as much white-guilt between now and November as possible. How to do that? Find the button, perferably at a Republican function. One persons views should not be taken as of that of the populous . look in side your self and see if what you say to others that don’t agree to your view on this issue is not on the same lines .what ever the mans color of skin blue black red or white yellow or green from earth ,mars or the moon.
You have the right to vote to see that the persons you elect do the thing that we as a nation under god stand to the occasion for. will this happen time is the only answer for this no matter who wins the race for the seat in the white house . but I my biggest question to all is how much do you need to spend in the millions to take a job that only pays 250k per year plus free health care all the while promising the populous that work jobs after going to school taking out loans for over 100k to make 35k to start with teachers being one of them you break that up over 12mth 2.92kper mth .Now that your that far up the chain take out the health care 1k per mth for a 60 hr work week 8.34 per hour lets not forget that person we put in the white house needs his cut at 8.25/%plus med care 2%/ss at6% 1.36 = 6.98 per hr they work.Its not about the populous its about them selves ,the y faster we as a nation wake up and see this the faster we came change it are selves . so to print what is on the mans buttons to drive it on the republicans desk is not right for all you know he could to supported by naacp. to make this thing a raciest heated debate or the black panther party. and if you take it to heart then he wins so don’t give this ignorant pompous a@@ your time . and go out and vote for the person you feel in your sound mined and heart is thee one for the job . not just for the color of skin or if they put on the right shoe before the left but rather can they do the job that we as a nation need them to do.this is what you need to ask .talk to your network listen to the issue the vote .but remember this one thing if you don’t vote you will never be heard No matter how loud you scream. ask the man tat you vote for this one thing and it will never be answered what does the constitution amendment 15 ,1&2 and what year they where in place then ask about amendment 14 ,3 as well as all those in the house and on all the comities.see what happens then
